SDL Trados Studio 2009
for advanced users

This training session is intended for users who have already worked with SDL Trados Studio 2009 and want to enhance their knowledge in order to translate texts in formats other than Microsoft Office. It is also designed for users who wish to manage and maintain their own term bases and translation memory databases. Topics such as settings and quality assurance will also be covered.

The following overview outlines the content covered in the training session; the choice of topics and their depth will depend strongly on the participants’ previous knowledge, however. Further topics reflecting participants’ grasp of Across can be included upon request.

• Preparing files for translation (hiding and locking text etc.)
• Translating complex file formats, adapting file type settings
• Mark-up formats: HTML, XML, XLIFF, DITA, DOCBOOK
• DTP files: Adobe InDesign, FrameMaker, QuarkXPress
• Software files: JAVA, JAVASCRIPT, .NET, PHP, PO
• Quality assurance during and after translation
  • QA Checker 3.0
  • Terminology verification with the Terminology Verifier
• Data maintenance and import/export of translation memories and term bases
• Working with project templates
• Automating tasks (batch tasks)
• Working with translation and review packages
• Mixed workflows and compatibilities with other translation tools
